In May of 2005, Outsell will publish its final estimated annual sizing of the information industry for 2004. The final figures will include our annual market share rankings by sector.
This week, Outsell is making available the top-level preliminary market size estimates. The total industry grew by 9 percent from 2003 to 2004, from $238 billion to $260 billion.
The strongest segment by far was the red-hot General Aggregators, Distributors & Services, with 25 percent growth, led by ad-driven players such as Google and Yahoo! Best among the rest were the Market Research, Reports & Services (non-IT) publishers, at a 10 percent growth rate, and the Scientific, Technical & Medical (STM) players at 9 percent.
