Outsell's Marc Strohlein is on hand as a speaker at the SIIA Information Industry Summit, and he notes that there's a lot of "weather reporting" on how the industry has changed, but not a lot of constructive information about how to deal with it. "An entire day cycled back and forth from the 'we’re dinosaurs and the temperature is dropping' gloom to 'wow, there is an asteroid coming so our death will be quick and painless.'”
Keynote speaker Michael Wolff opined that he hates blogs and hopes that in 18 months they will be a bad memory... All too many speakers are still wondering aloud how they'll "monetize their content..." Marc gets the feeling that this same discussion will be going on for two to three years and won't look much different.
